Ryoan-Ji - You have to imagine young padawan!

Konitschiwa,

here is the last post referring to Kyoto (maybe).

We went on our last day in Kyoto to the Ryoan-Ji temple. I know, doesn't sound pretty exiting, but they have a stone garden in there. And this one is really really incredible cool!

Even the walk through the park to the temple is very nice. Everything is in perfect shape and you have the feeling that even the trees are at the place they are meant to be.

Arriving the temple you have to take off your shoes, which is common in Japan, but they have some day slippers for you... pretty uncommon for temples.

Who am I?! Just making fun of Youjung.... We couldn't resist...

After a few steps you can see the zen garden and you have to sit beside. If you want to know what intention the monk had who constructed the "stone constellation garden" you don't find the explanation in the information paper... you have to imagine by yourself.

I thought I did pretty good, but John just laughed about my interpretation.

As you see there are big stones surrounded in small stones. Around the big stones there are circles, like they came up from underwater. And Only at one side there are lines going straight from the one side to the other end. So I thought you are not supposed to be mainstream (in the middle of something, here the garden) but you have to be individual, like in Gauss curve at the side.... but John just laughed and said: "Yeah, but you know what happens to the people who are at the side of the Gauss curve?! They will die because of genetic selection.... "

This cup is very special and unique, they say...
 Whats wrong in this picture?

Hey Natze, I think this tree partied too often at "C&Q (Cruise and Queer) kkk

So, I hope you enjoyed the zen garden and Kyoto, the next posts will tell you something about Osaka!
