today is the first day of maybe a new life (I don't think so)!

I have to stop eating animals! A long time ago, a´maybe 2 years, I read a book "Eating animals" (Jonathan Safran Foer). It tells you how the american meat industry produces meat for all the hungry americans. It is really ridiculous! I know some persons who stopped eating meat after reading this book. Even if I feel sorry for the animals.... I didn't stop. 

But now, thanks to Yongmok I will stop for one week. Yongmok told Dawoon about a project, everybody can do, like "Energy day". During "Energy Day" it is appreciated to live completely without new energy, so no computer, cellphone, light..... and if everybody would do it once a year the world could save sooo much!

Emergency Karaoke - Nine teenager died!

today I have to discuss a serious topic. I have to think about it now for hours and it still claims on my mind!

Everybody knows the evenings you meet with your friends and you don't know exactly where to go or what to do. It doesn't matter if you are in Berlin and you have to decide which cocktail bar at the Simon-Dach-Str. you should join, or if you are in Essen and you have to decide Mupa or Delta.... or you are in Busan and you have to decide what you wanna do in Seomyeon.

Every decision could be your last one. I know, that it sounds very extreme, but last night showed me, that it really could be your last one!

After hiking James and me went to Seomyeon for dinner, afterwards we decided to go for a round of beer pong.... suddenly Dawoon and Youjung joined us... we had a really fun night! But at the same time just a few houses away there was a fire in a karaoke room establishment. 

Me and my friends had been to a similar establishment a few weeks ago.... it was located in the basement of a house. Of course many people wanted to have fun, it was saturday night... so you go out and drink and maybe if one of your friends want to go to sing.... you go and sing....

The fire started in the entrance area..... and the owner wanted to dowse the fire on his own.... but didn't manage to fight the fire.... so he had to rescue himself.... but there were still people in the rooms singing and drinking.... In the end nine teenager died. They were on vacation in Busan, because of the yacht race in Haeundae (I watched with James during the afternoon). After a while Dawoons and Youjungs family started to call them if they are okay.... and if one of us wanted to go to sing karaoke.... I still think about the crowded streets in Seomyeon, even during the time the firefighter started to fight the fire.... It seemed like everybody was still making their own decisions for their night...

I still feel sorry for the victims... Even if I know, that there is so much worse stuff in this world.... I am still thinking, that it could have been me and my friends....

So everybody, please make the right decisions and walk through your life with your eyes wide open! Even if you just check the emergency exit.... sometimes there is none....

as I told you last time... on the way back from the mountain James and I found several cars with kind of  sales stall. So in german I would call them "Pommesbuden" but there were no french fries, they had Ramyeon and of course Soju! 

So we decided to have a snack during the sunset on the mountain!

yesterday I had again a kind of holiday day in Busan! I met with James around 1pm at Seomyeon station.... We decided to have brunch before we went to Haeundae....

Dino Jelly!

last night I had with Youjung Dino Jelly ice cream at Baskin Robins! I don't know if I told you about Baskin RObins before, but it is like Häagen Dazs ice cream, just the korean version.

There is even a drinking game about Baskin Robins.... but I will introduce it to you after coming back to germany... anyway... they have a new kind of ice cream... the dino jelly ice cream... It is so good, that I have to show you some pictures...

And I have to admit, that there were real Jelly Dinos in the ice cream, like the commercial and the name say....

Summer-night with "chicken-anus"!

today I had a Dawoon and Youjung day... since a veeeery long time! I already told you about the beginning, but the final was quiet the best part! After having dinner with Youjung we met with Dawoon again. And he introduced me finally to one of the Korean food tents, which are located.... on the streets.... I always just passed them, but today we just went inside....

I think he chose randomly "our" tent, but he did quite well. We were the only guests inside the tent, most of the people just sat on plastic chairs on the street.... so we were alone with "immo" kkkkkk ( its a "kind" way to call an korean female waitress....).

New camera - New life

maybe you recognized, that there were not so many posts this week.... Just the post MT post and the slides.... but I have to tell you.... my camera had different injuries... for a long time... the touch display didn't work the way it used to do, the breech for the battery didn't close anymore and the slide at the front was broken..... but today finally the camera's electronic didn't recognize anymore, that the slide is open, so it is not possible anymore to take pictures.... I was used to not looking at the pictures, because the display didn't work and that all the features like shock resistance and waterproof stuff didn't work anymore....and of course no videos, because I couldn't switch the adjustment.... but no pictures.... that is definitely too much for a camera.... so I decided to buy a new one....

This afternoon I went with Dawoon to the gym to do the Spartacus again....afterwards I had a little time (now kkkk) till I meet Youjung... I haven't seen her since two weeks, which is pretty sad, because my time in Korea nearly over.... anyway I asked him where to buy a new camera......

We went to two shops..... and finally in the third one I found my new partner....kkkkk unfortunately he comes from germany too!

Transformation - Kind of final results!

finally my days in the Dutujal laboratory at Dongseo university will wind up in a few days ....

After three months working in the laboratory including some very interesting research I have to start writing my bachelor thesis.... And honestly I don't want to start... Now that spring time is in Korea I rather sit on a mountaintop or go to the beach to have fun with my friends.... Even, because my time in Korea is running out....

Anyway, this morning I had to make a presentation for my coworkers.... because they want to know about my results and maybe some of them didn't know what I was working on...

Of course I gave the very professional slides some touches of ......myself....kkkk

As you know I worked on microalgae transformation.... so it was pretty obvious to addict the first page Optimus Prime! Because he is the master of transformation....

Pre & Post summer MT!

the next morning.... was pretty cool! 

I think nobody had a bad hangover, maybe except Haritz...

The breakfast was a combination of of course ramyeon and this time toast! Of course we had no traditional toaster, but Lisa had the perfect idea! We used the grill! We had one package of as a leftover, so perfect usage! We started to prepare the 50 toasts and what can I say... all of them were gone in about 45 min.... And also all the ramyeon were gone after a while.... So the perfect intercultural breakfast.

Summer MT - Beach, sun, soju!

this weekend there was the first MT for ICEA 9th. And it has been the best MT till now.... We had a very nice place at Songjeong beach. 

We met at station Jung-Dong where the members had to achieve their mission. They had to buy stuff to prepare a korean meal and an international meal.... You will see what they prepared .....

Robert's Birthday!

Springtime!

since a couple of weeks its finally spring time in Korea! After a really long and cold winter, I think all of my visitors, from John to Julia can tell you how cold it has been, spring has arrived!

My campus is a wide open sea of flowers and there is a big curtain of green all over the university... 

Sport is like math!

today I went to the gym again and felt really familiar. Maybe because I like the trainer so much, maybe because I am here now for 8 month....

...but maybe it is because going to the gym is always the same! It is like maths... it is always the same, everywhere in the whole wide world!

Relaxing time...

referring to some other weekends, this one was pretty quiet and relaxing.... I didn't drink (so much) I didn't went to club, I slept a lot, did sport every day and if you believe it or not... I studied....

yesterday I went for another very exotic menu with Youjung and Dawooon!

We went to a seafood restaurant, yes seafood again! You know maybe the big aquariums with all the eels inside... on the side of the street... waiting for the bad guy to take them out of the water, stick a nail through their head, slice the whole body into two and take out all the inner organs...

Beer-can Chicken!

tonight I went with Robert to Seomyeon to do lots of stuff, of course a little bit shopping, hairdresser, and faceshop.... but the most important thing tonight was the food!

It turned out, that it was Beer-Night tonight.... and I think my brother will be very jealous...

After finishing everything on our list we went to a magical place.... I felt a little bit like in the land of milk an honey.... the only difference was, that the chicken doesn't fly into your mouth.... But the cook cut it for you, so you just have to eat it....

They put a beer can into the chicken and smoked it! So all the beer ( in our case it was in a mountain drew can) vaporized in the chicken and got resorbed by the chicken meat.... it was so tasty, I think I fell in love with beer chicken.... Of course we ordered more beer to drink....

Professors Dinner!

tonight we had Control Engineering class again.... sounds boring, even because we had 90min longer than usually, but afterwards we went to have dinner with our professor.

Pre-MT - Mission failed!

yesterday I went with Kelly and Dawoon to Songdo beach. I have been there like zero times...

I felt like in summer holidays.... very nice weather, nice beach, happy people walking through the sand, some street stands, some music, restaurants..... Really nice!

But we had to work... we were searching for a Motel with a room for about 50 people (all ICEA members). It was more difficult than expected. There were two options, but both were too bad.... Thats why we have to change the area....

North Korea - No trees baby!

at the last day in Seoul me and my family visited the South / North Korean border. I thought it would be a thrilling ride to one of the "hot-spots" in the Korean Republic..... But in the end it was kind of stressful....

We had to get up at six o'clock in the morning to get the bus which took us to the tourist attractions in the DMZ (DeMilitarizedZone).

Seoul - The Soul of Asia!

my parents and my brother just left Seoul seconds ago and I am alone in the "Fully Guest House". So far so good.

The time we had in Seoul was so incredible cool! As u maybe recognized, I didn't post a thing on the blog for 3 days. That's because we did so many things in Seoul. I thought, that Seoul would be a little bit boring to me... First time with Robert, second time with John and now with my family, but I was 100% wrong!

We visited so many new places and of course savored so many new stuff! Like new cafe's, new food, new shopping malls...

Manjanggul Cave - The Lava tunnel!

yesterday it was very raining on Jeju, thats why we planned to go into the underworld! After sleeping a little bit longer we went by bus to the cave. 

We very supposed to walk about 20 min from the bus stop, but actually we took a taxi, because of the rain. The landscape changed again completely in compare to the last two days. We saw some colza fields , which were very beautiful.

last night I went with my parents to a special kind of amusement park. We took the taxi to Loveland!

It is a sexual themed park. Actually I just heard just good things about it, and if you google/naver Jeju there are lots of pictures of giant penises and vaginas.... So I wanted to check it out.

Jungmun Daepo - Columnar jointed Lava

the last natural tourist attraction for yesterday was the columnar jointed lava at the coast of Jeju! 

It was really fascinating seeing the fulfilled cooling process! Sometimes the surface looked like exploded rock bubbles... It was one of the geological most interesting things I have ever seen!

Cheonjiyeon waterfalls - Coconut?!

the second waterfall were located a 7min taxi ride westwards from the first ones...

Of course they were not as beautiful as Jeongbang waterfalls, but a visit worth! Even because there were some coconuts.... Of course my bro and me wanted to have one... and of course each one..... You will see later what happened....

Saeyeon Bridge

after visiting the first waterfall for the day we visited the Saeyeon bridge, and of course the island the bridge connects to the mainland!

After such a long walk yesterday the 1,2km on the island were pretty ridiculous to us! I don't wanna say so much, because there is not so much to say....

It was just a beautiful island with beautiful nature! So, enjoy the pictures!

Jeongbang waterfall - Paradise!

after a snowy day yesterday a kind of tropical feeling day followed!

We started the day with the Jeongband waterfall, which is located at the south coast of Jeju. We took the bus 5.16 Seogwipo bus terminal and afterwards a taxi for just 2.200Won.

The fee to explore the area was 2.000 and it was definitely worth it! They prepared all kinds of stuff to make the waterfall more attractive.

Mount Halla!

today my broadcasting takes place in Jeju-do! Me and my family took the airplane to get to Jeju. At our first day here we had our biggest and maybe best activity on Jeju!

We went hiking! And yes, we climbed the volcano "Mount Halla" which is located in the center of the island! It is 2000m high and our route was around 19 kilometer! So long!

We started at the east side of the UNESCO protected nature reservoir and hiked to the top! We started the hiking at 07:30 am! 

It took 10:45hours!!!!!! Maybe you think, that it is a little bit long kkkk.... but you will see how crazy the trip was....

Greatest night pt.2

after the dinner last night the guys and me went to Thursday party to introduce Christoph to his new most favorite game! He went nuts while playing! I knew it!

Zoo Coffee!

last week was very comfortable for me, I know it's not so special, but I really loved to live in Seomyeon!

Not at least because of Zoo Coffee! That is why I want to introduce you guys to the really best coffee shop I ever visited! The coffee is even better than Starbucks, I know it is hard to believe, but it is true!

Every morning I got some service, like two giant cookies or a whole muffin! And they had the men's health to read in there! So kind of perfect for me!

last night was the best night ever in Busan! For me personally more highlights than during the MTV/MAMA awards!

Not at least, because I had my two bro's around...

This week rocks!

as you know is my family in Busan, honestly, Dawoon is missing (kkkkk) but I will get over it....

This week is one of the best since I am in Korea. Even if I have to take the genetics class and there is an exam tomorrow morning....

My daily routine starts with a shower (rainshower) in the Motel, followed by the best coffee I got in my life. It is from Zoo coffee. (I will show you this relative new coffee brand house later)  And a taxi ride to university. It is so cool if you live in Seomyeon. Even if your new home is a Motel. Just relaxing to walk home from dinner or drinking. And of course it is nice to have your brother as a roommate.

Anyway, I introduce my parents every day to new korean stuff, like BBQ, Makkoli, Soju and of course chicken. Thats my mom's favorite! We visit all my beloved places in Busan and eat and drink and taste, of course my mom tastes everything! What I got to know over here.

Sightseeing in light velocity!

during the second day I showed most of the Busan sight seeing attractions in light velocity, because it is quiet boring to me...kkkk

After university I met my parents at the Motel. From there we went straight to PNU. After really just 30 min my family started to get into the shopping mood!

My mom bought a new backpack, my brother bought two pair of shoes and my dad a CD (No K-Pop... so sad....) but my mom got one K-Pop record! Oh, I forgot a pair of shoes for my mom.... So everybody got something besides me....mhm

Nothing changed

last Sunday my parents and my brother arrived in Korea. So I went to Seoul to get them from the airport. I was so afraid of oversleeping, that I slept in the end just 3 hours during the night...

My way to Seoul was kind of perfect. I got a taxi immediately to Busan station. And the KTX departed around 20 min later. Enough time to get subway tickets for my parents. I prepared little NH-Bank envelopes with a little bit of pocket money, subway tickets and all the other stuff they will need. It felt kind of giving new instructions to my team of top secret agents like in mission impossible after their arrival in asia.

King Michael - Queen Natasha

as you know was yesterday "Museum Time" and guess what.... I became King of Korea... Incredible....

There was another activity you could join in the museum. Some lucky people were supposed to wear the traditional kings and queens cloth. In my group Natasha and me were the lucky ones....

ICEA - Museum time!

today was another ICEA activity... honestly I didn't expected so much... but I was positively surprised!

We went to the Busan museum... maybe you remember, that I have been there month ago and it was closed, because it was monday (museum holiday day in korea). So I was happy to go there finally.

We planned some different activities and I really can recommend them. Even we were in a museum it was quiet exiting. But just get surprised later...

Pre- and Post Birthday!

last night was kind of special, because I met with my korean friends to celebrate two different kinds of birthday parties.... a pre party and a post party.... Post party for Yuee, she had nearly weeks ago and Youjungs Birthday, which is tomorrow.... In Germany nearly unbeliveable... in Korea common... because people getting older at the first of January... So birthday is not so important....

But in the end it was a nice night....

We started at G-1's Atlanta house.... Getting some food and free beer kkkkk Hoegaarden from Belgium... so delicious.....

today I am a little sensitive... maybe because I listen to the mega blockbuster hit "I want it that way" (BackstreetBoys).... Every time I listen to the song I have to think about the one time my family went for holidays in the beautiful "Sauerland"! During the drive (just my mum and me in the car) we listened all the time to this song and sang along for hours....

But thats not the reason why I'm a little sensitive... I am because my family will arrive in Korea in two days...

Honestly I can't remember when all of us were together on vacation the last time. Maybe it was the trip to the Sauerland... and "I want it that way" was released in 1999! So nearly 13 years ago.... Such a long time....

Of course I am exited about the time we will spend in Korea (Busan/Jeju/Seoul), but right now it feels a little unreal.... In these days I have so much stuff to do... thats why I can't think about the visit all the time, but the time I think about I'm happy.

Yesterday Youjung asked me if I am exited about the visit... My answer was.... Sometimes..... She just laughed....kkkk

When we were young we always had great holidays with the family, but during the teenager times it was cooler to spent the time with friends... I wonder if it is the same in Korea... is it even usual to go on holiday with your friends... For one or two weeks?
Anyway, I think now being a little older it will be a really good, and for me very important kind of holiday...  I haven't seen all of them for 7 long months...

 So, I think we will rock Korea! Watch out!

today I met with Youjung to have dinner.... in the end we had such a good time... we laughed so much, I didn't had so much fun for days...kkkkk

After having dinner we went to get some dessert! And this time it was soooo good!!!! Even better than the cupcakes, I'm so sorry James, but this time it was really so much better....

We went to Cafe "Tokyoloose" and Youjung and me got really lost in the mood of the cafe. Everywhere were little cuddle animals and there was so much little accessories... Even the return was in a very nice arrangement....

I know, maybe you are bored of cupcakes... But I feel like I am visiting the place since December on and on and on again.... And today something really funny happened....

I wanted to meet James for dinner in Seomyeon, after a successful day in lecture, lab and gym...

At first I ran into Yuee in Seomyeon station... both of us were so exited...
But after dinner in the dirty chicken place James and I were not satisfied... so we went to get a cupcake...again...

While munching our cupcake and chatting I just watched out the window and guess what.... I just started to smile and started to count all the faces I know...kkkk

Suddenly Yuee, Mina, Jaehoon, Natasha, Leisha and Leishas cousin stepped out of the restaurant across the street....So I ran outside to greet them... James followed a little distracted...kkk

German BBQ!

today was the first day of the grill season.... (David told us) so all the germans and of course some foreigners...kkkk joined the german bbq.....

The plan was to grill near the mountain, in the sunshine.... but then suddenly the campus police arrived at the place we wanted to make our little fire.... they told us, that it is too dangerous.... because of the fire and the wind... maybe they should have added earth to their list... but in the end it is march and not september....

Anyway, we were supposed to find a new place... and what is better than shunshine and a nice place in nature...?!

Right, the dormitory kitchen... I really don't like the place, because it is soooo dirty!!!

Atlanta house - G-1's family restaurant!

tonight was special night! Because we were invited to kind of restaurant opening, originally it was a pre-openenig....

It will open on monday, the 26th of March, so next monday.... go and check it out!!!!

It is near PNU... go from PNU subway straight to PNU, if you pass the last street turn to the right.... its near "basement" and "Tomato"!

Korean food reloaded!

today I met with Youjung in Seomyeon again, because we haven't seen for two days...kkkk

We thought about a lot of food, because we were so hungry... At first we thought about chicken, of course.... But after a little walk she pushed me into a traditional korean restaurant....

And I was really surprised about the huge amount of food we got for 7.000Won each person....

So if you wanna go and get some delicious korean food for not so much money.... This place is very good!

Sunday - Just Sunday

yesterday was the perfect sunday... I did all the things you are supposed to do on any sunday... Just sleeping, TV, eating and cupcakes.... I felt a little kind of routine in this sunday....kkkk

I met James at 4pm in Seomyeon. We started with dinner/lunch=dunch! 

He introduced a new restaurant to me... which was really nice! You can choose between different kind of meat and vegetables and they cook it for you.... on your table....  what a nice service! kkkk

Gaonnuri - Welcome to the new leaders!

yesterday was a big Gaonnuri celebration day... this organization welcomed the new leaders of all the groups.... ICEA, IEC, english translation, japanese translation, UNICEF and so on....

So I had been invited and of course the other ICEA leader. Some members joined to support us.

We met 2pm at Donguie university, where I have never been before. But as I was told it is in the top ten of the most beautiful universities of korea.

So we went to a big room and there the action took place.

At first some Gaonnuri leader made some speeches, what was quiet boring to me, because I didn't understood everything. Next my friend Yongmok was the show master and even if I didn't understand everything it was quiet funny. There were lots of jokes I really liked!

First the leaders leader of the smaller organizations got their certificates. That they are accepted by Gaonnuri as a leader.

after living in the laboratory for long 24h I needed lots of sleep to recover.... and honestly I'm not recovered yet.... I feel a little weak, but I hope, that I will get better till Monday...because there is laboratory time again...

Anyway, maybe I can tell you about my last days of the week....

first of all I met after my sleeping day (thursday) Youjung.... for shopping.... I really didn't wanted to buy me something.... it was Youjung's time.... but the shirt was so amazing... and it was kind of my size....so Youjung and me bought new stuff....

 Like I said, just "kind of my size".....

Yesterday I met with my two heartthrobs Youjung and Dawoon! Of course, this is not so special for you, but this time there was something interesting....

Dawoon put his military uniform on! He looked very manly and very authoritative!

Thursday is Fermentation Day!

today was a veeeery long day..... I know that you guys think, that we are not working here in Korea, or at the laboratory.... but today is really freaky...

We have to take our practical course for BRT/BVT... Soooo interesting......not...

So after a boring day yesterday we started with the fermentation today. In the beginning it was pretty cool, because the "super master of fermentation" at dongseo burned his hand twice, while pretending to be cool...

Newsflash! - Newspaper!

after hitting Koreans biggest TV channel my next aim was the newspaper.... And I was successful!

Some time I wrote an essay for my university`s website... and two weeks ago Dan from the International office called me to tell me, that a big Busan newspaper (Busan Ilbo)wants to publish my essay....

And yesterday was the big day!

I sent them a very nice picture.... but they requested my "Alien registration card" pic. So I had to send them this picture....
It is not so nice.... it is really a bad picture .....

Weekend completed!

just to complete the weekend schedule.... Saturday night baby.... After Hiking and makkoli house we went on having fun.... it was really kind of random night....

For me it has been a deja vu.... because we did exactly the same thing last saturday.... at the same places, but it still was so much fun!

After hiking we went to PNU again and went to the same place as last week.... to the rooftop...kkkk

Everybody had fun and everybody went on with Coju and all the games....
